Barbara Bush Is A New Yorker for Marriage Equality

Submitted by Ingrid on February 5, 2011 – 9:27 AM

Barbara Bush, daughter of former president George “Dubya” and sister to Jenna, released a video on Monday that expresses her agreement that marriage should be available to all persons, gay or straight. As part of the Human Rights Campaign, Barbara voices her view on gay marriage, saying, ”I’m Barbara Bush and I’m a New Yorker for marriage equality. New York is about fairness and equality and everyone should have the right to marry the person that they love. Join us.”

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) launched its “New Yorkers for Gay Marriage” campaign last September, aimed at increasing awareness for the ongoing battle in Albany for gay marriage. Other celebrities appearances include Fran Drescher, Tom Collichio, and Dick Cheney.

Props to Barbara for going against her father’s caveman attitude. And by the way … you’re quite cute. ;)

If you’re a New Yorker, why are you for marriage equality?

I guess that apple fell from the tree, hit the ground, rolled out of the orchard, took a transcontinental flight, and found a better orchard.

Also – Dick Cheney? Did I read that right? Are you sure he wasn’t mistaking “gay marriage” for “Pain barrage”?

  • avatar Ingrid says:

You read it right. According to Wikipedia, “in May 2009, Cheney spoke of his support for same-sex marriage, becoming one of the most prominent Republican politicians to do so. Speaking to the National Press Club, Cheney stated: ‘People ought to be free to enter into any kind of union they wish, any kind of arrangement they wish. I do believe, historically, the way marriage has been regulated is at a state level. It’s always been a state issue, and I think that’s the way it ought to be handled today.’”

  • This comment explains his unholy union with Satan.
