An Open Letter to the Tea Party Patriots
Dear Tea Party members,
I’m sorry all of that white male privilege didn’t work out for you. I’m sorry that we live in a country where “I want it without paying for it, and I don’t want anyone else to have it” is not a general sentiment. I’m sorry that you feel you are overtaxed, overworked, and under-appreciated for all of the good you do. I sincerely apologize for the wars that your children aren’t fighting and that you who are of age haven’t bothered to sign up for.
I am sorry that you haven’t found the time to volunteer at your local soup kitchen. I am sorry that your Chevy Suburban/Ford Expedition/GM Yukon/Cadillac Escalade costs what most families spend in groceries per month to fill with foreign oil. I am sorry that the wind turbines obstruct your view of the sea. I know you paid a lot for that when you signed your mortgage with Sotheby’s.
I deeply regret the fact that your marriage is in jeopardy due to the homosexuals. Those hell-bound souls will surely be the end to the institution of heterosexual marriage, a pact that has proven time and time again that it can withstand anything society throws its way.
I am sorry, my upper middle-class white brethren. I am sorry that we will never return to a time when an insurance company can deny treatment to a four-year-old with lymphoma. I am so sad for all of us that our way of life has been threatened by a blatantly socialist movement to cure diseases without the constraints of privatization. Surely the American way of life is coming under attack.
Sincerely,
Tornado Allie
Well done girl, well done.
Thank you for fighting the good fight.

Thanks dear. I’ve had it up to my earholes with these asshats.
You fuckin’ rock, woman.
“I’m sorry all of that white male privilege didn’t work out for you.”
You are a hypocrite and owe the patriots of color an apology, now! Your preconditioned bigotry and prejudice is disgusting.
Preconditioned? I think not. A recent poll found that roughly 88% of those who identify as a part of the Tea Party movement are white. Do not accuse Allie of “preconditioned bigotry” when she is very clearly addressing one particular segment – which coincidentally IS the majority – of the Party itself.

Would you feel good reading this article you’ve posted to any one of those people in that video? Could you do it to their face?
Bonhomme, I’m sorry I genuinely can’t tell if you’re being dryly sarcastic here or not. If you are, then awesome – that’s fucking hilarious! If not, then I’m going to have to give you a little lesson in hypocrisy – since I’m the expert here…
En garde?
And, thanks franny, my dearest.
Yes. Yes I could. Because those twat-whistles have decided to side with THESE people:

and let’s not forget this:

I’m glad you think I’m a closet racist. Really. It makes me smirk. I’ll gladly tell a black tea party member they’re ignorant as quickly as I’d tell a white tea party member. And for each, I would give the reasons why in a clear and concise manner. Not that I have to defend myself to you, but my family has been in this country for just under three hundred years and each generation suffered casualties in the name of American freedom and democracy – for everyone. We are a line of peacekeepers and shit-stirrers and I have equal parts in my blood, sir.
The Tea Party, from what I’ve seen and read (and it’s an extensive amount of both biased and unbiased text from BOTH sides) seems to have it’s heart and soul set in righteous indignation; their internal motto being “What about us? We don’t want to work to help everyone, we want to work to help ourselves…wah.” Ah…there is that rub.
As an American, as a jew, as a human being – the one thing that has been drilled into my psyche from a very young age is that I should not stand idly by while my fellow man suffers. I will work to pay for the Illegal Salvadorans kids to go and get a proper education. I will work for food stamp babies to get proper nutrition. I will work so that the system does not fall apart. I will work and participate and make sure that the system bends to our collective will as it refines itself. This is how it has always been done. Sure, I’d like to sit around and be rich and fat all day, but I’m fucked – and so are you.
We are standing on a great and impossibly unstable bridge over the abyss of a bloody, shameful history. We must all work together to make it across safely. In-fighting against a system that has proven itself worthy time and again in every industrialized democracy in the world will only weaken us, shake our moorings and force our eyes down into the past, instead of ahead to the safety of solid ground. Ahead to our future.
Equality. Justice. Freedom – both personal and national – are easier to march for than greed, selfishness, and the drive to one-up the other guy.
I’ll probably never change your mind. I’ll probably never even come close. I just want you to understand…even a little, where I’m coming from. We have to work together, even if we don’t like each other.
